More than 20 guests at Dean Forge, near Buckfastleigh were treated to a traditional range cooker demonstration this week.

Thanks to Chef David Pengelly who showed them how to cook effectively and creatively on the Everhot 100i Range Cooker. Guests joined Dean Forge owner Simon Chew and team at this informative and entertaining lunchtime event.

In just two hours the professional chef who has been cooking on traditional stoves for more than thirty years, showed everyone how to cook more than five dishes all at the same time! Guests were then invited to eat tasty treats such curries, quiches and cakes, and lasagne, and ask practical and technical questions about the wide range of traditional stoves available.

“Chef David Pengelly demonstrating how to cook effectively with a range cooker”
Simon Chew of Dean Forge, manufacturer and installer of traditional woodburning and multi-fuel stoves for more than 35 years, not only sells traditional stoves and range cookers, but knows how economic they can be.

Simon commented “The Everhot 100i with its unique energy saving design has extremely low electricity requirements, so you can simply plug it into a 13amp socket just like an electric kettle. Many owners have praised its ‘minimal consumption’”.

Simon said “I know too well that cooking on a traditional range is different to your usual kitchen cooker, but this doesn’t mean it has to be difficult. By giving people a taster session like this, we can show them how to get the most out of their stove and make their kitchen the heart of their home.”

Sarah and John, from Totnes were guests at the cooking demonstration and said: ” The cooking was brilliant with so many delicious dishes effectively prepared – I can’t wait to go home and try it for myself. What’s more we all got to learn from each other’s experiences as well as the professional chef – it was fantastic!”
