Dean Forge was established by Michael Chew in 1969 in Dean Prior, near Buckfastleigh nestling on the edge of Dartmoor.
Robert Herrick, the Royalist poet was vicar of Dean Prior during the 17th Century and the village is still an attraction for many devotees of his work, much of which was written at Dean Prior.
In 1978, when Dean Forge first designed and marketed wood burning stoves, the very local nature of this business was reflected in the name of the original range – Herrick Stoves.
Dean Forge has always been a family run business, Michael, his sons and other dedicated long standing local members of staff have amassed vast expertise and experience in the manufacture and installation of wood burning stoves and multifuel stoves. Today, the business has developed and grown to the point where it supplies wood stoves, Oil, Gas and Electric stoves in both traditional and contemporary designs, including Rayburn and Everhot range cookers.
All of Dean Stoves own range of Clearburn Wood burning and multi-fuel stoves are manufactured at the Dean Forge workshop in Dean Prior near Buckfastleigh set in the rural heart of Devon, Dean Forge employ a team of HETAS qualified engineers and undertake installation and servicing of both Solid fuel, Gas and Oil fired products. In addition offering spares for your wood burning and multi-fuel stoves, solid fuel, Gas and Oil fired products.
